Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ - TC Grown

Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ is an iconic foliage hybrid known for its sharply triangular mature leaves, dark velvety surface, and contrasting pale venation. Originally selected in the 1990s from a cross between Anthurium clarinervium and Anthurium pedatoradiatum, Delta Force stood apart from its siblings because of its distinctive deltoid leaf shape and narrow pointed tip.

Juvenile plants may begin with rounder or more heart shaped foliage, but the characteristic Delta Force shape becomes increasingly pronounced as the plant matures. Mature leaves develop broad shoulders before tapering dramatically toward the bottom, creating the unmistakable triangular silhouette that gives the cultivar its name.

What You’ll Receive

One live Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ plant.

Your plant will be carefully packed to help protect the foliage, root system, and active growing point during transit.

Plant Highlights

Distinctive triangular or deltoid mature foliage

Dark green lightly velvety leaves

Prominent contrasting venation

Selected hybrid of Anthurium clarinervium × Anthurium pedatoradiatum

Compact upright growth habit

Leaf shape becomes more dramatic with maturity

Can produce increasingly large foliage under ideal conditions

Light

Provide medium to bright indirect light.

Strong filtered light encourages steady growth and helps the plant develop larger, more mature foliage. Avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight, particularly during the hottest part of the day, as it can scorch the leaves.

Water

Water thoroughly once the upper portion of the growing media begins to dry.

Delta Force prefers consistent moisture but should not remain constantly saturated. Allow excess water to drain freely and avoid leaving the root system sitting in standing water.

Do not allow the plant to remain completely dry for extended periods.

Humidity

Moderate to high humidity is preferred.

Humidity around 60 percent or higher can help support healthy foliage development and smoother emergence of new leaves.

Established plants can adapt to average indoor conditions when watering and temperature remain consistent.

Growing Media

Use a chunky, airy, well draining aroid mix that retains some moisture while allowing plenty of oxygen around the roots.

A combination of orchid bark, coco chips, tree fern fiber, perlite, pumice, and coco coir works well.

Avoid dense potting mixes that remain wet for long periods.

Temperature

Warm temperatures are ideal, generally around 65 to 85°F.

Protect the plant from frost, cold drafts, and prolonged exposure to temperatures below approximately 55°F.

Consistent warmth generally encourages more active growth.

Airflow

Gentle airflow is beneficial, particularly when growing in higher humidity.

Good circulation helps prevent moisture from remaining stagnant around the foliage and growing media.

Fertilizer

Feed lightly and consistently during active growth using a balanced fertilizer.

Diluted fertilizer every few weeks can help support stronger root development and increasingly large foliage.

Avoid excessive fertilizer buildup within the growing media.

Growth Habit

Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ grows as a compact upright terrestrial aroid rather than a climbing plant.

New leaves emerge from a central growth point and gradually increase in size and definition as the plant establishes.

Juvenile foliage may not immediately display the dramatic triangular shape associated with mature Delta Force. The characteristic form becomes increasingly obvious as the plant progresses through successive leaves.

About the Delta Shape

The mature leaf shape is what makes this cultivar especially distinctive.

Leaves develop broad upper shoulders before narrowing sharply toward an elongated pointed apex, producing a triangular or delta shaped outline.

Because juvenile leaves can appear considerably rounder, younger plants often become more recognizable with each new leaf.

About the Hybrid

Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ originated from a cross between Anthurium clarinervium and Anthurium pedatoradiatum.

It was selected from the resulting seedlings specifically for its unusual foliage shape. Simply recreating the same parent cross does not automatically produce Delta Force. True Delta Force plants are propagated clonally to preserve the characteristics of the original selected plant.

Anthurium ‘Delta Force’ combines bold geometry, velvet texture, and contrasting venation into a plant that becomes increasingly impressive as it matures. Its dramatic triangular foliage makes it one of the most recognizable cultivated Anthurium hybrids.
